The Proektstroy team agreed that the most beautiful eco-project of this week is the building 25 Verde or 25-Green, designed by the Italian artist Luciano Pia. It is located in Turin and, in addition to standard bricks and steel, consists of hundreds of trees..
This five-story home is built to an almost normal building standard. But only in parallel with this, a whole forest of 150 trees was introduced into its architecture. Trees grow on all floors of the building and on the roof. And 50 more trees found their «home» in the courtyard of a residential building.
There are 63 apartments inside 25 Verde. They are all different from each other. So, residents of the upper floors can get a beautiful scenic view of the park and the river. And at the very top, residents have access to the green roof.
We named this project an eco-building and even made it our choice this week. But in reality, the building does not relate as much to modern green buildings as it could. There are no solar panels, wind farms, and energy efficiency is achieved only through a good arrangement of trees. And, nevertheless, the project is environmentally friendly. The forest inside a residential building reduces air pollution in the area, protects residents from noise and high temperatures, managing the climate in summer and winter.
Among other things, trees make a home attractive. All types of vegetation are selected in such a way that in each season there is a variety of foliage, flowers and greenery.
The project has been operating since 2012, so everyone can come and look at the house in which the forest grows.
