The Volkswagen concern has declassified an open modification of the «charged» hatchback called the Golf GTI. For the first time, the model will be shown to the public at the motor show in Geneva.
The novelty has a folding roof, which is hydraulically retracted into a special compartment located in the trunk in nine and a half seconds. Moreover, this operation can be done at speeds up to thirty kilometers per hour. Trunk volume with the top folded down is reduced from three hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty liters.
The cabriolet has the same power plant as the hatchback. The Golf GTI is equipped with a two-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of two hundred and ten horsepower, which comes either with a six-speed «mechanics» or with a six-speed DSG transmission with two clutches. The convertible accelerates to a hundred in seven point three tenths of a second. Maximum speed — two hundred thirty-five kilometers per hour.
